TIMPA Update:
Whether you are new to the hobby or a seasoned veteran, TIMPA has much to offer you:
1) One hundred sixty unobstructed acres for radio control flying.
2) Paved runway (750' x 70') with six fenced pilot stations and a paved pit area all free of dust.
3) Steel ramada (168' x 18') for shade with concrete floor. Water & telephone are available.
4) Eighteen large work tables (4' x 8') no bending or kneeling to work on or assemble your aircraft.
5) Modern flush restrooms handicap accessible
6) Large gravel parking area with minimal dust & convenient access to ramada.
7) We have instructors available for new pilots.
The only requirements are possession of a current A.M.A. card, the purchase of a $10 TIMPA Gate Access Card and payment of the appropriate flying fee. In addition, all flying must be in accordance with the TIMPA Field and Safety Rules and the AMA Safety Code. You can purchase a Yearly Pass membership for $70.00 (this is reduced by $5.00 for each subsequent month starting March 1) or pay the $4.00 Daily Fee each time you fly. All money collected is used for field maintenance and improvements – we have no paid personnel.
We also have facilities for Free Flight, Model Rocketry and Amateur Astronomy. The Tucson Free Flight Club manages a separate 3 square mile field exclusively for free flight. For those interested in model and high-power rocketry, the Southern Arizona Rocketry Association holds launches every month. In addition, the Tucson Amateur Astronomy Association has regular Star Parties and are in the process of building several observatories at TIMPA.
